Since the 1980s, the 1-child policy has been in full-effect in the PRC's urban areas. It's created the phenomenon known as the "little princes," as males are the preferred offspring in such a situation -- for both cultural and financial reasons. But what of those families who wish to raise more than just the single kid? Currently, the strictly-enforced penalties for having child 2, 3, 4, and more range anywhere between $6,000-$10,000, completely beyond the reach of most middle-class Chinese. But what if a novel means of financing such an arrangement were to suddenly arise? What if young Chinese families could all of a sudden leapfrog this obstacle, completely legally? That's the subject of today's episode, and thanks again for watching!
